He loved it. Also bought for my adult son who has always loved any kind of airplanes, inclusing paper ones.
The folding instructions are clear and simple enough. However with a little practice he is able to fold the simpler planes without too much trouble. I purchased this book for my 5 your old son for Christmas. However he is a little too young to fold them on his own. If I would have know how much fun he would have had with this book I would have rethought the presents. I must say that it was his favorite. There have been planes flying around the house since then.
For my son, this seems to be the right resource at the right time and the planes that he makes fly amazingly well. The papers that come with the book seem to be helpful in better performance as well as being fun and colorful. If it was a person's first paper airplane book, I'm not sure if it would be too complex. My son previewed the book when shopping one day. The only downfall is helping him store his pile of paper airplanes in a safe and orderly manner. He's been making paper airplanes for two years and has referenced two or three books on the subject (he's now 9). He received a gift card for his birthday and bought it shortly thereafter. This book seems to have upped his level of paper airplane craftsmanship a notch.
They're all easy to make and continue to fly even after miltiple crashes into the furniture. We've had a great time with this one. My kids flip to a page and I make them their awesome airplane.
Thank goodness we can order more paper. I ordered 3 of these books for three of my grandsons with November birthdays. My 2 grandaughters would like some "girly' paper. I have a suggestion though. It is really great. One grandson is 7 and the other 2 are 8 and they are really enjoying making the different types of planes.
